Testimonies 2009 - January
PERSEPHONE
Hello, this is Kim
Bowlus( & Jeremiah). The owners of
Persephone – up in Alaska.
We figured we
would update you on how she has been
doing. She has been doing fabulously
for the most part, she’s very loving and
playful with us. She has the most
fabulous personality and no matter what
she does or gets into, we cant stay
annoyed with her because she's far too
adorable. I personally enjoy how every
morning, between 5-6:30am she decides it
is of the utmost importance to come purr
in my face, and if we choose to try and
sleep instead of love her, she tries to
suffocate me by sprawling across my
neck. :)
She's got a knack
for getting her way.
We are extremely
happy with her.
Anyways, I hope to
hear back from you. I have attached a
few pictures of her.
Thanks,
Kim

Annabelle
Merry Christmas, Suzanne!
The girls and we are headed out to
Colorado tomorrow. It's a long drive (we
take 2 days). The girls have been out
twice now. Annabelle has had her usual
stomach issues both times, but we keep
developing better plans, so hopefully we
can circumvent problems this time. The
vet in Estes Park gave us a different
laxative (lactulose), which works so
much better than Cat Lax and is so much
easier to dispense.
The girls will be going in for their
5-year checks in January. Can you
believe it? Check out their photos!
Actually the one of AB is several years
ago, but it was the best one to use for
this purpose.
I hope you all are well. All the best
for 2009!!
Cheers, Kathy & Dave
Tazewell
Hi Suzanne...
Here are a few photos of
Tazewell's first 24 hours at his
new home!!!

Bronx.JPG)
Hi Suzanne,
He played all night and the little
sleeping that he did he slept on my
pillow. He used his box and has been
eating and drinking with no problems.
He is so social and loves to be around
people. I have a 6 year old American
Shorthair male and I think they will get
along great. Bronx has been growling at
him (Marco). Marco just watches and
tries to sniff him. Bronx is so
adorable, I love him. I will send you
some pictures later. Thank you so much
for a great cat!
Monika
Hi Suzanne,
I finally got Bronx. He is home and
doing great.
Did not want to call you so late. Talk to you later.
Monika
HAZEL
That’s exactly what I was worried
about. I don’t think anyone would
hesitate to take her. She does
still have all her claws so if she
ever did sneak out at least she
would have some protection. She is
not trying to run out though so I am
sure it will be fine…you now cats
and there curiosity.
I
am glad she wont get any bigger.
She seemed like she was getting a
little puggy so we started limiting
her food to ¼ cup twice a day. She
always acts like she is hungry but
then again she always has had a big
appetite. She looks like she has
evened out now and is looking good.
I know they are generally stockier
cats so I promise I am not trying to
make her “skinny” I just want her to
be in good health.
Chris is out of town right now and
she slept beside me all night, right
in his spot. She started meowing
about 4 am or so…I guess she thought
it was time for her breakfast. Shes
such a sweetie. Well I am going to
stop myself before I start to
ramble.
Thanks for raising such great cats!
Katie
Hi
Suzanne,
How
are you doing? I hope all your
holidays went well. Ours were
great.
Hazel is doing fantastic! She is a
little spaz, very playful, and is
getting sweeter every day. She and
George are great buds and they often
both lay on the couch together with
Chris and I. She is definitely a
moma’s girl. She follows me
everywhere when I am home. She is
starting to get a little curious
about the outdoors but I haven’t let
her outside. She is just about the
perfect size right now.
Are
they usually fully grown by 1 year.
She still has a few months to go but
I haven’t noticed her getting any
bigger in a long time. Of course I
will never forget her birthday since
she was born the day after Chris and
I got married.
That
makes her just a little more
special.
Well, I have some more pics but I am
going to send them separately. They
kept getting sent back to me earlier
today because the message was too
big I think.
Hope all is well and you are having
a Happy New Year!
Katie

Suzanne,
Wow, wow, wow! I've spent the afternoon
with the kittens. They act like they
known me for a long time already. Both
are very loving. A couple of purr
babies. We are going to have no problem
here. Thank you so much for breeding
such great kittens. After getting
Clementine I knew you did a good job.
But with these two new kittens I realize
it's no mistake - they are wonderful.
I'll send you pictures.
Jodi
BLUIZER
Suzanne,
Bluzier is great! He is the best little
cat. He wants to go outside badly and
is always trying to sneak out the door.
I am afraid to let him out in fear he
will run off and get lost.
He and our female chocolate lab are very
close. He is very tolerant of our two
boys. My youngest, who is autistic, is
very attached to Bluzier.
Bluzier is spoiled rotten and growing
like a weed. I will send pictures as
soon as I can swipe my husbands camera.
Have a Merry Christmas and thank you so
much for Bluzier. He has brought
immense love and joy to our family
QUINCY
Hi Suzanne,
Hope your holidays were nice and
maybe even got some time to relax.
I thought I would drop you a short
note with a Quincy progress report.
He is now just over 5 months old and
weighs 5 pounds. He is eating great
and behaving well. He does have his
moments when I want to strangle him
(I don't really mean that) , but of
course he is a kitten and must be
expected.
I
love him so very much and he has
added so much joy to my life. He is
quite a character, and has a ton of
personality. My only question for
you is..does his weight seem OK..5
pounds at 5 months? I have attached
a photo so that you can see the fine
young man that he is becoming. He
is very handsome! Hope all is well
with you and your family. Take
care, Jeanette
Sorry to bother you but I have a
question for you. Quincy was just lying
in his litter box this morning, spending
about 5 minutes in it. Doing nothing
but laying there. Does that strike you
as weird? He is eating, playing, and
eliminating just fine. I don't know but
it just hit me as being strange.
Sometimes he jumps in it and plays for a
few minutes, but today he was just
laying there. Anyway, just wanted your
opinion.
PERSEPHONE
Hello Suzanne,
This is Kim Bowlus, with Persephone in
Alaska.bs.
I've attached a few pictures of one
of her most recent adorable acts.
We appreciate all your help,
Kim

Chester
and Precious
Suzanne,
They arrived safe and sound. They
are just beautiful.
Chester is up in the bed with me and
my little girl is keeping her
distance. I am sure she will warm
up to me in a day or so.
They are so cute. Thank you again for all the extra trouble with having
to get up so early to send them off.

Tillie and I arrived safely Monday
night into Rockford. Luckily, we
beat the bad weather. I hope you
had a very Merry Christmas. I have
a couple of questions. One is her
feeding. She liked the packet of
whiskas and seems to want it all the
time (we bought a large box). What
is your recommendation for giving
her that daily? Also, she eats the
Iams dry, but sparingly. Was she
eating the Science Diet? Should I
switch to the Science Diet instead?
The second question is her meow.
She seems to have laryngytis (sp).
She meowed a lot in the airport and
coming home in the car. Should I be
worried or just wait? She doesn't
seem to be sneezing or have a cold.
She is a very active kitten,
playing, purring, sleeping, eating,
and going potty but when she meows,
not much sound if any comes out.
Should I give her the cold
medicine? We used the eye drops and
her eyes are no longer watery.
Tillie is such a joy to us all. We
enjoy watching her learn her
surroundings. She is so full of
energy. She doesn't like my dog,
but hopefully she will get more
comfortable with her. She seems to
be navigating the stairs pretty
well, but are still watching her
until she gets a little
bigger. Thanks for raising such an
adorable kitten. We will try and
get some pictures out to you after
the holidays.
Happy New Year!
Hope
SPENCER
|
Wanted to give you an update
on Spencer. He's doing
great. He's only been here
a little over a week, but he
has adjusted beautifully!
It's amazing how he's
already developed a
routine. Each morning he
plays in the bed after we
both wake up for about 30
minutes, then when I get up
he heads to the hallway and
waits for me at the top of
the stairs before tearing
downstairs to get his
breakfast. He plays like a
madman most the day taking
time for catnaps under the
Christmas tree or in his
little pet bed I keep on the
couch for him. If he's
really tired sometimes he
will nap in his pet taxi I
keep out and open all the
time. At night when I start
turning off the lights
downstairs he knows it's
time for bed and heads back
to the stairs and waits
until I'm ready to walk
upstairs with him. It's
funny how during the daytime
he has no problem going
upstairs alone to use the
potty, but morning and
bedtime he always waits for
me to go with him.
He has the personality so
many people describe in
their letters to you. He's
super affectionate and
puppy-like in the way he
follows me around all day.
He definitely wants to be
where the action is. He
plays so hard at bedtime
he's just exhausted and
melts like butter when he
gets in bed. I actually
applied SoftPaws to all four
paws while he was sound
asleep!
We've been going for a ride
each day since I've had him
and he does wonderfully in
the car. We are leaving
this morning for the 5
hour drive to Arkansas for
Christmas. I'm sure he'll
do great. He's going to be
meeting the family's 14 year
old silver tabby, Katie.
I'm sure Spencer won't miss
a beat, I hope Katie doesn't
convince the family to
divorce me!
By the way, we received the
medicine and although he
didn't like it or the eye
drops he surrendered and
he's been taking both on
schedule in exchange for a
kitty treat. His cold is
gone and his little eyes
have completely cleared up.
He seems to be growing like
a weed too. Only a week
here and I swear the little
dude has already changed.
I love him! I will let you
know how he does on the
trip.
Happy Holidays!

BERTRAND
Suzanne,
Just got home with Bertrand. He is
already running around the apartment
like a kitten possessed. He is most
adorable.
Thanks for all you did!
John

BRUTUSBrutus had a successful visit to
Florida. He is a star wherever I
take him.
He
actually stops traffic when I drive
with him! He is such a character.
Thanks,
Corey
GINGER
Finally got a
picture of her even though the
colors aren't the greatest. She
has a kind of lightening pattern
on her neck! Like Harry Potter.
She moves so fast often her face blurs! But her she is tired after
"fighting" Rudy for his favorite
spot.

LOLA
Hi Suzanne,
I hope you got the video that I sent of
Lola and me. She is doing very
well and warming up to me very quickly.
I am so surprised when she
crawls into my lap at night when she
gets sleepy. She loves to be
brushed and snuggle, when she isnt
playing with laundry baskets and
tissue paper. HA! (so much for all those
toys)
I am so happy to have her in my life.
Thank you so much for being so
helpful and caring.
Her eyes have been running a little bit
so I have been giving her the
drops you included in my starter kit.
Hopefully that will clear that up,
I will let you know if this continues.
Here are pictures for fun!
Hi Suzanne,
I thought you
might get a kick

JULES AND
VINCENT
Hi Suzanne:
Quick request for
you…..I'd like to put the parents
pedigrees in my files for Jules and
Vincent. I can find pedigrees of
Vincent's dad (…Storm Cloud..) and
Jule's mom (Maya Angelou) on your
website but not for Vincent's mom (…Kisska
Rose…) and Jule's father (…Winston..).
Would you be so
kind as to send me a copy of each or
email
them? I'd really appreciate it. (I'm
kind of anal about pet files…sorry)
Ps: A couple of
pix of the children attached :) I gotta
tell you…

Jules is one
bizarre kitten! She has these "spaz"
moments where she'll just, for no
apparent reason, start zipping around
the house and then she'll stalk and
pounce on Vincent! It's very funny.
More so is Vincent's reaction…it's like
he recognizes that she's a girl and
therefore, as a gentleman, won't fight
her but more bats her away. It's soo
cute! Unless she really keeps up on
him…then he'll pretty much tackle her.
During her "spaz" moments, Vincent will
just lounge on the couch and watch her
zip around like "oh geez..she's at it
again. Btw, can i have another of those
cat treats please? <<yawn>>" LOL
Also, I'm now on
my 4th brand of kitty treats….Jules
won't touch any of them!
I keep buying them hoping one will catch her fancy, lol! Naturally,
Vincent has enjoyed all 4 brands :)))

(these are my
photos….my son is the photographer in
the house and has been taking there
pictures non-stop! I'll get some of his
too!)
Jules is doing
well and holds her own during the
9:30 pm smackdown that she and
Vincent have. Very cute :) She's
got a slight build, meaning, she
doesn't seem to have the same study
build like Vince. I'm sure it's
just because she's female but when
looking at the two of them together
(which they always are) she just
seems so tiny. Plus she is younger.
Jule's coat
doesn't seem to have the same dense
texture as Vincent's either. Maybe
it's just because of her different
coloring...it seems different maybe?
They
are just sick cute though and we
love them so much. My son came home
today to find Jules half way up the
Christmas tree! She's absolutely
fearless most of the time.
I
handle them as much as possible.
They're definately much more at ease
with me then my son I think...he's
quicker than me ;) But when I got
home from work tonight, my son was
snoozing on the couch and Vincent
was on the top of the couch, relaxed
and Jules was on the couch by his
feet....Iike two little guardian
angels. It was just wonderful to
see.
They come up to bed with me at night
but still sleep under the
bed...which I hope will change. But
in the morning they are out of there
when my feet hit the floor :)
They're getting there...just time,
you know?
Cali Blu and BeatriceThank you so much Suzanne the
gals are doing just great out and
about
and welcome me when I get home
which is absolutely delightful!

CallMeCharles (Churchill)
It is been a long time since I
have written and given you an update on
Churchill (formally Ouachita CallmeCharles). I was just looking at
your webpage, at all those beautiful
kittens and I thought you might like to
know how Church has been doing! He is
fabulous, sweet, a prankster, loving,
mischievous, silly, comforting,
beautiful, beautiful boy that brings so
much love to my life.. We had a loss
this year as we had to put down our 15
year old Chow Chow, and Churchie is
missing his partner in crime, but we
give him a lot of love and in the future
we will get him another playmate.. I
always get the question "where did you
get that beautiful and sweet cat" and I
am happy to tell them all about you and
your wonderful animals. Even my vet
inquired as she fell in love with him
from day one!!! I hope everything is
well in Arkansas and I will be sure to
send an updated picture of him soon.
Take Care,
Jennifer and Churchill
Calamity Blu and Streakinblu (Caliblu
and Beatrice)
Girls gone wild
in the Caribbean!!
This journey started a while ago
when I lost my 9 year old British
Shorthair Boy and needed to replace
the gap with another loving cat. I
called lots of people and sent lots
of emails and finally got in touch
with Suzanne. She had two sisters
that she wanted to Rehome and I said
I would be delighted. That was way
back in July 2008. It has taken me
until January 2009 to get the girls
as I live in the Caribbean and was
initially displaced by Tropical
Storm Hanna and Hurricane Ike then
Hurricane Omar....yep its been a
busy year!! But through the entire
journey Suzanne has been patient and
understanding. I finally got the
girls here January 15th and I can
truthfully say they are the most
delightful, playful kitties I have
ever owned. They are very playful
which is a delight, wonderful
company and very beautiful. I cannot
recommend Suzanne enough for her
tolerance and kindness and help for
me to get the girls from the USA to
me here. The joy the girls have
bought to my life is hard to
imagine. I adore the breed I always
have but these two treasures are
amazingly bright and happy.
Its easy for breeders to get
complacent but Suzanne was
absolutely tolerant and has helped
me in a way another breeder would
not. The girls now enjoy life in the
sun, chasing Lizards and climbing
palm trees...well trying to anyway!!
They have adapted incredibly well
considering they came from the snow
to the sunshine here.
Suzanne you will never know how much
this has meant to me, long may you
continue making people like me very
very happy. My blessings and good
wishes to you and all your family
for the new year and may good luck
and prosperity come your way
always.......and if anyone is
thinking about buying a British
Shorthair cat believe me they are an
incredible breed, very gentle and
loving helped of course by a happy
and healthy upbringing.
Thank you from the bottom of my
heart......pictures of the girls to
follow!!
Hilary
FAITH
Sorry we haven't
gotten back to you... the holidays were
crazy and we just got back from
vacation. Now it's time to play catch
up. Faith is adjusting really well...
still jumpy some days but she let's us
hold her (for a little while) and just
started laying next to us on the couch.
She's put on a little weight and has
rounded out nicely... She sure is a
vocal thing... will definitely let us
know when we haven't paid enough
attention to her.
MISS MENDIE AND NICKY
It seems if one
gets something the other has to have
one too - toys, cat climbing posts,
everything! I have a little corner
for my computer, a rolling cloth
chair and a regular chair. Nicky
took over the soft rolling cloth
chair and I was sent to the regular
chair to sit on. Then, Miss Mendy,
milled and milled and milled and
could never get comfortable around
me and Nicky when I worked on the
computer. So, I had to buy her a
rolling cloth chair too. Now, I am
sitting on the regular chair and
they curl up in their own soft
rolling chairs!
YETIE
She's here!!! On
time; just as calm as can be!!!
Airport was almost empty. She's
checking out the place. Wont
come to me yet -- just letting
her get use to things. Thanks
soooooo much!!!
Joyce
He's doing great.
He's in charge of the whole house now.
He's playing nicely with the dog and
other cat, he's been the star attraction
of the neighborhood and all the kids
have been over to see him.
He's got a great personality. Are all
British Shorthairs this laid back?
Also, what should I do about the stitch
in his foot-
Thanks!
Julie
Everything went perfectly and he's
home!
My daughter loves him-so does the other
one (home from college). He's exploring
the house and making himself at home,
very affectionate and none the worse for
the trip-
We will let you know what we name him-
Merry Christmas-
Thanks,
FERGIE AND BAXTER
Hi Suzanne,
Here's a picture of Fergie and her
"friend", Baxter. This is a rare moment
when the two sit together so
peacefully!!
A few months ago, Fergie had bumps, a
rash on her neck. I took her to her
doctor and he said it was an allergy to
something but would be difficult to find
the source so he gave her a shot and
pills to treat the symptoms. It cleared
up, but has since come back. Apparently
she's allergic to something in my
apartment and I'll probably never know
what. Do you know of anything, home
remedy-wise that I could do for her. I
would hate to have to keep taking her to
the doctor and keep her on drugs. Any
suggestions?
I thing Baxter has changed Fergie's
personality. He's very jealous of her
and wants all the attention. Now she is
actually demanding some attention.
It's great!
Hope all is well with you in the
mountains. Happy New Year!!
Eric, Fergie and Baxter
ROCCO DESPIRITO
Hi Suzanne,

Hope the 2008 holidays have been fun for
you. Rocco Despirito is doing great and
still growing. On his 10 month birthday
he weighed 14.5 lbs! He still has lots
of loose skin to grow into. He is a true
"Garfield" laying around with hooded
eyes letting the world entertain him.
One of the other kitties would climb to
the top of the tree and knock the Angel
off while Rocco supplied the applause!
We saw that you had more kittens from
his sire and dam.
Oh how we were tempted but our inn
is too full with four legged furry
friends. I am enclosing a few updated pics of Rocco. He makes us smile many
times everyday.
Stacy, Diane and Rocco

Hi Suzanne,
Hope all is well with you & yours.
Miss Bonnie is doing well. She has
captured my heart as well as the
heart of my “significant other”.
She keeps my other 3 cats fit & trim
since she loves to chase them
through the house. They are all such
a joy.
I was on your website checking out
if
CH
Ouachita Mizchevious
had been
retired. No such luck “YET”.
Any idea when she will be retired?
Would her personality blend well
with my other cats?
I so love the breed and the coloring
of Miss Bonnie & Mizchevious.
Looking forward to your reply.
